Take a look at our event from last year
This year, we will have the presence of…

The Good Men Swingtet
The Good Men Swingtet is a little big band that transports you directly to the golden age of swing. Formed by international musicians based in Madrid, Spain, they pay homage to the King of Swing, Benny Goodman, and revive the music of their contemporaries from the 30's and 40's such as Artie Shaw, Count Basie, John Kirby, Fats Waller and Johnny Hodges, among others. With a varied repertoire of over 4 hours personally arranged to liven up the Lindy Hop and Balboa floor, they ensure that the world will be moving their feet!
Gustav Jakobsson
Gustav grew up in a family dedicated to dance, although as a child he was more interested in music and sports.
Years later, his sister convinced him to try Lindy Hop during a legendary workshop in the village of Herräng. In his first contact with the dance he was lucky enough to receive a lesson from Lindy Hop legend Frankie Manning.
Since then, he fell in love with this style and has spent a lot of time delving into it.
He currently lives in Barcelona and works as a dancer and teacher. His classes focus on rhythm, fluidity of movement and connection to the music. He is always exploring new ways of expressing himself through Solo Jazz, Tap and, of course, Lindy Hop.

Lidia Jimón
Lidia has been teaching Lindy Hop for a decade in the vibrant Madrid scene. Co-founder of the Woodside Jazz school, she enjoys like the first day spreading her enthusiasm for dance to everyone who crosses her path.
If she's invited, she's there! She loves to explore new ways to keep learning about this culture that she is so passionate about, and the different ways in which the community keeps reinventing itself. For Lidia, every class and every meeting is a golden opportunity to keep growing as a dancer and as a teacher.
So, if you find her in the Canary Islands, get ready to dance, laugh and, who knows, maybe even share some local delicacies.
BJazz
BJazz is a band formed by Samantha de León (double bass), Silvia Jiménez (trumpet), Amelia Gutiérrez (drums) and Irga González (piano). The group plays songs that move between classic jazz, swing, latin jazz, and bossa nova, and also performs versions with their own arrangements of songs by contemporary composers such as Maria Rita, Esperanza Spalding, Diana Krall or Norah Jones, seeking to give a female presence to the world of jazz in the Canary Islands.

Parties where everything is possible
As you may have guessed, we are not your average swing festival. At our parties don't expect competitions where only the best in the class participate or endless exhibitions of performers. Instead, you will have dancing and more dancing, some absurd games, and plenty of time to make new friends.
We want to recover the original spirit of swing dancing, we want to celebrate life with friends of all colors and shades, without pretensions, without restrictions. Just smiles and dancing without rest to the sound of the best jazz music.
This year we are having a couple of theme parties again (we're Canarian, we can't help it 🙃). Obviously, you are not required to follow the dress code we propose. We promise you a safe space, where you can go as you want, where you will never be judged.

🎩 The Dead 20s 🖤
On Friday, the 1920s return... from beyond the grave.
Prepárate para una noche de Halloween donde los muertos vivientes se visten de gala con todo el estilo del Roaring Twenties.
Ghostly cabaretiers, bloody gangsters, wandering sailors, disgraced businessmen, and cursed artists... The lost souls of a golden decade will revive in our darkest and most decadent party.
Come in your most spectral outfit and immerse yourself in this night of jazz, glamour, and terror.
You can't miss it! 🙌
🌴 The Secret Party 🌞
Our most anticipated party of the year is back... and yes, it's still a secret.
All you need is your swimsuit, your sunglasses, some sunscreen and the desire to have a great time.
Get on the bus, leave the rest in our hands... and get ready for a surprise destination you won't forget.
Music, good vibes and surprises in a secret location under the sun.
We promise it will be (very) worth it. 😎🍹👯

🌺 Tropical Print 🌴
This year, the jungle moves to the dance floor.
Get ready for an explosion of color, rhythm, and good vibes at a party where tropical prints are the official uniform.
Palm trees, hibiscus, flamingos, pineapples and toucans will be your best allies to get lost in a hot, wild and flavorful night.
From Hawaiian shirts to floral dresses, the more tropical the better!
Color your body, find your most exotic look and come to dance in paradise.
The island awaits you. 🍍🕶️🍹
Places where things happen

Garbo's Theater
The main parties on Friday and Saturday will take place in this iconic room in the south of Gran Canaria, equipped with the best sound and light equipment and a spectacular atmosphere. The perfect place to dance until the body endures.
Grupotel Orquídea
The event will begin and end in the tropical gardens of one of the best hotels on the island. On Friday you can enjoy a wonderful sunset to the sound of the best swing music and on Sunday we will close the weekend with a chill-out party with live music.

Class levels
At Tropical Fest we offer two levels of classes geared to your goals as a dancer.
🎉 Social Dancer
Social dancing is your hobby. You use basic and advanced steps, complemented with musicality, footwork, etc... You are very comfortable with swing out, circles, tandem, hand to hand, texas tommy, slingshots, sugar pushes and put footwork variations. You are able to memorize step structures and choreography with ease.
💪 Challenger
You frequently participate in international workshops and festivals. Your dance is very musical and you are an expert in playing with rhythm, syncopation and other elements of more advanced musicality. You master Solo Jazz steps and use them in your dancing. You create your own structures and are able to perform swing outs in fast tempos without any problem.
